Tsham draws his inspiration out of his knowledge on African culture. Traditional African masks and statues, originating from different countries and regions of the continent, emerge in vibrant compositions on paper. Tsham’s drawings are exclusively made by using BIC ball-point pens, a method used as an answer to the poor working conditions Kinshasa has to offer. Tsham’s high skills in using this technique enable him to provide his subjects photographic features such as claire-obscure, perspective, and light reflections. The artist’s aim is to question our current lifestyles: how do we communicate, how do we burry the ones that left us, how do we express our feelings and our joy ?
