Chéri Chérin (born Joseph Kinkonda) is a pillar of the popular Congolese painting, with Chéri Samba and Moke. After studying at the Kinshasa Academy of Fine Arts, he has still been attracted to the city’s poster-painting and has tried to send radical messages to the viewer. Messages in the picture, messages in letters with an abundance of facetious and even irreverent winks… The imagination of this artist seems without limit, and the themes of the daily life are an endless source of inspiration. The works of Chéri Chérin have been showed in major group exhibitions in Spain, Belgium, France, USA, Congo-K. Many of his works have been successfully auctioned.
